Job description
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative service on diesel engines and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues.
- Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, fuel systems, tires and other components.
- Conduct inspections to identify equipment deficiencies and recommend repairs.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently.
- Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs when necessary.
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Comply with all safety regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
- Diesel Mechanic (ASE, OEM, or equivalent certification preferred).
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of diesel repair and maintenance experience.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and diagnostics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair procedures.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying environmental conditions.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification.
- Experience working with commercial fleets and heavy equipment.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Familiarity with fleet maintenance management systems.
